Overview

The Baited campaign brought light to cross-border trafficking in the seas around Thailand. Fishermen are lured with hopes of a good paying job but instead they are sold and forced to work on ships in dangerous conditions. In partnership with the Walmart Foundation, International Justice Mission (IJM) used certain technologies to help track these men and bring them to rescue.

I worked on the concept for the wave pattern that is used throughout the campaign which was then designed and animated by Sarita Loredo. We wanted to communicate a technological feel while also calling back to the ocean. From there I used the pattern to create an instagram "take over" during the time of the campaign and used it across other assets such as the web page, stories, and print material.

Ron's Story

Another piece of this campaign focused on a cross-border  trafficking survivor named Ron. Ron was making $2 a day as a farmer in Cambodia and decided to take a job as a fisherman near Thailand to help support his family. He realized he was trafficked once he had made it out to sea and was trapped for three years.

Outcomes

IJM was able to track Ron's trafficker, put him in jail and Ron returned to his family in Cambodia. The Baited instagram takeover had some of the most liked insta posts on IJM's feed for 2020 ranging from 2k - 4k likes.
